NARRATOR
Dr. Clark Hubbs (deceased)
Region: Hill Country
Topics: Fish, Biology, Springs, Aquifers, Water, Education
A professor in the Zoology Department of the
University of Texas, Dr. Hubbs
specialized in the study of desert spring fish. As these fish are
often rare and even endangered, Dr. Hubbs was
often not only a scholar but also a spokesman for the protection of
wildlife. He was particularly active in
seeking to protect free-flowing segments of rivers from dam
construction, and in guarding stream spring flows from overpumping
of aquifers.
A collection of
additional materials related to Dr. Hubbs' work and life has
been posted by his former students and colleagues, organized as the
Hubbs Icthyological Society.
