NARRATOR
Ben Sargent
Region: Hill Country
Topics: Cartoons, Media, Education, Politics, Government
Mr. Sargent is a widely syndicated, Pulitzer-winning
editorial cartoonist. He drew for the daily
Austin American-Statesman from 1974
through 2009, and
previously worked as a political reporter covering the Texas Capitol
for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Long News Service and the
UPI,
and originally grew up in a newspaper family. His cartoons lampoon
many of our foibles and failings, but return to the themes of greed,
sloth, and shortsightedness as found in the public's and politicians'
views and actions regarding air pollution,
climate change,
flooding,
lumbering, energy use and
sources, population, water quality,
mass
transit, roads and development.
