Mr. James is a Navy veteran, attorney and Director of the Southwest Regional Office of Consumers Union in Austin. He has worked on legislative and regulatory advocacy for improved public and environmental health and safety, and for better low-income legal representation. He has focused much of his effort on alleviating food safety problems, including reducing pesticide exposure, regulating confined animal feeding operations and questioning genetically engineered products. He has also been involved in standardizing and promoting organic food production as a safer alternative to conventional agriculture.
